June 17, 2025 — The University of the Philippines Mindanao inaugurated the School of Management (SOM) Building Phase 2, marking a significant milestone in the University’s continued pursuit of academic excellence and institutional development.
The ceremony was attended by UP Mindanao Chancellor Prof. Lyre Anni E. Murao, Dean Aurelia Luzviminda V. Gomez, university officials, faculty, staff, and guests. With the completion of the new building, the School of Management now has a permanent and dedicated space for its academic, research, and extension activities.
In her message, Chancellor Murao congratulated the SOM community and emphasized that the new facility represents a long-awaited and fitting home for the unit’s expanding role in higher education and public service.
The project was realized through the collaborative efforts of UP President Angelo A. Jimenez, Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, and the UP Mindanao administration. Senator Go, who serves as Vice Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Finance and a member of the Senate Committee on Higher Education, supported the funding of the project and served as the event’s guest speaker.
The SOM Building Phase 2 is expected to support the School’s mandate to develop future leaders and professionals equipped to respond to the needs of communities and industries in Mindanao and beyond.
