OVPD TRAINS UP MINDANAO BUILDING ADMINISTRATORS AND PERSONNEL IN FACILITIES MANAGEMENT
UP Mindanao hosted a two-day training led by AVP Joseph Gerard T. Reyes, introducing building administrators and personnel to facilities management best practices. Vice-Chancellor Leo Manuel Estaña presented a proposed Facilities Management Plan to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective campus operations. The event also launched the Guided Unified System for Asset-Linked Information (GUSALI) Portal, an electronic system for monitoring and maintaining university facilities, and introduced UP Manila’s Room Occupancy Online Management System (ROOMS) for potential adaptation. Participants engaged in a focus group discussion to address campus facilities concerns and collaborative planning for ongoing development.
Assistant Professor Leo Manuel B. Estaña took his Oath of Office for a second term as Vice Chancellor for Administration during the Flag Ceremony Personnel Assembly last May 26, 2025. The oath was administered by Chancellor Lyre Anni E. Murao, with VCAA Maria Stella Salazar and HRDO Chief Lynda Buenaobra as witnesses. His reappointment, effective March 1, 2025, was confirmed by the UP Board of Regents at its 1398th meeting.
UP Mindanao Nonteaching Personnel Conference 2025
UP Mindanao held a two-day Organizational Development Seminar-Workshop on May 14–15, 2025, to empower non-teaching personnel through values formation, strategic planning, and participatory governance. Sessions focused on self-awareness, Completed Staff Work, and collaborative problem-solving. Group outputs will inform the university’s strategic planning in July 2025.
VP Peckley Engages with UP Mindanao on Infrastructure and Land Management
OVPD Vice President Daniel Peckley visited UP Mindanao on May 7, 2025, to discuss infrastructure and land development plans with university officials and staff, offering guidance and support alongside OVPD colleagues.
VP Peckley Meets with Davao City and UP Mindanao Officials on Public Hospital Project
UP Vice President for Development Daniel Peckley Jr. met with Davao City and UP Mindanao officials on May 6, 2025, to discuss updates on the Davao City Public Hospital project. The city-funded hospital, to be built on the UP Mindanao campus, was previously approved through a 2021 memorandum of agreement. UP-PGH Director Dr. Gerardo Legaspi joined the meeting to review past discussions and reaffirm PGH’s support.
UP Mindanao Recognized As Top Taxpayer By Bureau of Internal Revenue
UP Mindanao was recognized by BIR RDO 113A as a top taxpayer for 2024, ranking 9th among National Government Agencies in the region last April 7, 2025.
OVPD-LUDIP Team Explores Infrastructure Growth at UP Mindanao
The Office of the Vice President for Development (OVPD) – LUDIP team, led by Assistant Vice President Karen Jago-on, visited UP Mindanao on March 25, 2025, to evaluate current and proposed infrastructure projects. The team conducted site inspections, reviewed development plans, and met with university officials to ensure alignment with UP Mindanao’s long-term goals for sustainable growth. Discussions focused on improving academic, research, and student facilities to support the university’s expanding population. The visit reflects UP Mindanao’s commitment to strategic, sustainable infrastructure development and stronger collaboration with the UP System.
On March 21, 2025, UP Diliman's OVPPF and OVPA, alongside development and rollout teams, held the PUSO-BULSA Assessment Roadshow for Accounting, Budget, Cash, and HR staff. Key participants—limited to three end-users per unit—discussed system concerns and clarifications. VP Iryn Balmores and faculty representatives led the session to refine system implementation and improve user readiness. UP Mindanao’s team also contributed, ensuring cross-campus collaboration for smoother system adoption.
First Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous
On March 13, 2025, UP Mindanao conducted the 1st Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) to enhance earthquake preparedness. Faculty, staff, and students practiced "Duck, Cover, and Hold" before evacuating to safe zones under the guidance of marshals. Led by Vice Chancellor Leo Manuel B. Estaña, the Level 1 Exercise tested emergency protocols, evacuation efficiency, and team coordination. A post-drill assessment identified areas for improvement, reinforcing the university’s commitment to safety and disaster resilience.

UP Mindanao proudly participated in the 115th International Women's Day parade, standing in solidarity with the global movement for gender equality and women's rights.
UP Mindanao Honored with ISO 9001:2015 Certification and PRIME-HRM Bronze Award
During its 30th anniversary celebration on February 20, 2025, UP Mindanao was honored with both the ISO 9001:2015 certification for quality management excellence and the PRIME-HRM Bronze Award for outstanding human resource practices. Presented by TÜV SÜD PSB Philippines and CSC Region XI, respectively, these accolades underscore the university's commitment to institutional excellence and workforce development in Mindanao. Chancellor Lyre Anni E. Murao received the awards alongside key administrators, marking a milestone in UP Mindanao's pursuit of global standards and efficient governance.
UP Mindanao celebrates 30 years
On February 20, 2025, UP Mindanao celebrated its 30th founding anniversary at Sotogrande Hotel, Davao, under the theme "Damlag: Shaping the Future Together." The event gathered university leaders, faculty, alumni, and partners to honor three decades of academic excellence and sustainable development. UP President Angelo Jimenez urged universities to lead in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals, while Chancellor Lyre Anni E. Murao outlined bold plans for transformative education and innovation. The ceremony recognized outstanding faculty, staff, and researchers, reinforcing UP Mindanao’s commitment to progress and collaboration for Mindanao’s future.
Consultation With The Non-Teaching Personnel (Administrative Personnel And COS/JO Workers)
On February 18, 2025, Chancellor Lyre Anni E. Murao and Vice-Chancellor Leo Manuel B. Estaña led a consultation with non-teaching staff to strengthen transparency and collaboration. Chancellor Murao emphasized the session's importance in gathering staff input for policy-making, while VCAd Estaña presented updates on administrative, financial, and infrastructure developments. The dialogue reinforced UP's values of Honor, Service, and Excellence by valuing staff contributions and fostering inclusive governance. This initiative highlighted UP Mindanao's commitment to participatory decision-making and continuous institutional improvement.
HRDO Commends Employee for Exemplary Service Upholding PRIME-HRM Principles
On January 27, 2025, UP Mindanao recognized nurse Invictus "Noggie" Lorenzo for providing critical aid to a vehicular accident victim in November 2024. Chancellor Lyre Anni Murao presented the award during a flag ceremony, commending Lorenzo's embodiment of UP's values of excellence and public service. HRDO Chief Lynda Buenaobra emphasized this recognition aligns with PRIME-HRM's merit-based principles, highlighting staff contributions to community welfare.
