February 20, 2025 – The University of the Philippines Mindanao celebrated its 30th founding anniversary with a recognition ceremony at Sotogrande Hotel, Davao, bringing together university officials, faculty, staff, alumni, and representatives from government agencies and higher education institutions. The event, themed “Damlag: Shaping the Future Together,” highlighted the university’s three decades of academic excellence, service, and commitment to sustainable development.

“Neglect by countries to pursue the SDG targets makes it incumbent for universities to lead the way,” Jimenez said in his speech.
UP Mindanao Chancellor Lyre Anni E. Murao echoed this call, emphasizing the university’s ambitious vision for the future.
“We are entering a new pioneering era for UP Mindanao, with bolder dreams and goals. We are reshaping and redefining a more purposeful future—one that is deeply committed to transformative education, innovative solutions, and sustainable development,” she stated.
The ceremony also honored outstanding members of the university community, including UP Mindanao Scientists, UP Artists, Loyalty Awardees, and Gawad Chancellor Awardees for their dedicated service and contributions.
Vice Chancellor for Administration Leo Manuel B. Estaña expresses gratitude to the loyal employees, retirees, awardees, and teams behind key certifications, while also recognizing UP System artists and scientists. Emphasizing collaboration and resilience, the speech reinforces the theme “Damlag: Shaping the Future Together.” It concludes with a hopeful call to uphold UP Mindanao’s values and continue its mission of knowledge, innovation, and progress.
The 30th-anniversary celebration reaffirmed UP Mindanao’s dedication to academic excellence, research, and public service. Building on its strong foundation and ambitious vision, the university remains committed to shaping a brighter and more sustainable future for Mindanao and beyond.
